John has a lifelong love of 60’s and 70’s British comedy, with notable favourites including The Carry On films, Tony Hancock, Peter Cook, Black Adder, Frankie Howerd and Ray Cooney.

After many years involvement with amateur theatre groups, John deciding to try his hand at playwriting, with his first play A Gladiator in the House performed at Salford Arts Theatre in 2009.5>

Several of John plays are based on his extensive travel experiences but his varied output has ranged from plays set in Ancient Rome to Outer Space, always remaining faithful to British comedy traditions.

You may have seen John as a supporting artist in various television productions including Scott and Bailey, Shameless, Last Tango in Halifax, Mount Pleasant, Fresh Meat, The House of Anubis and Foyle’s War (playing William Knowles, the murder subject of an episode).
